Good afternoon, traders.

In today's media climate, it can be incredibly challenging to get a read on what the public's actual opinions are. There's no such thing as an unbiased news channel. If you just watch one, you're likely to have a skewed view on what most people really think.

This Sunday marks exactly 100 days until Election Day. So rather than relying on any one person or channel, we’re going straight to the markets, and more specifically, Kalshi’s Midterm Election Hub, to find out what's really going on.

Senate control

Well, for starters, our markets are predicting that the Senate will remain controlled by the Republican Party. They currently have 53 seats to the Democrats' 47.

The Republicans are favored to remain in control of the upper chamber. But since their chances are priced at only 55%, the Democrats are certainly within striking distance.

House control

The House, on the other hand, is a different story. Right now, the Republican Party controls the chamber with a slim majority, 218 to the Democrats’ 215. But based on current market sentiment, the Democrats have an 82% chance of flipping the House blue this November.

Midterm Election Hub

Looking at our individual markets like the ones above can be very helpful in understanding the current political landscape. We also recommend checking out our recently launched Midterm Election Hub.

The Midterm Election Hub gives you a comprehensive look at every election outcome based on the wisdom of crowds.

Let’s take a look.

Competitive Senate races

This is where the magic of the tool really shows itself. An individual market predicting who will win the Senate is nice, but it doesn’t explain why that outcome is likely.

To help show why things are leaning that way, we categorized each of the critical races.

Above, you’ll see that Maine and Michigan lean Democratic, while Iowa and Nebraska lean Republican. That just means that the market-implied chance of a Democratic or Republican win is 60-75%. So there’s a clear favorite, despite the fact that the race is still competitive.

In the middle is our Toss-up category; these are the states that are smack dab in the middle, with market-implied odds less than 60%. These swing states are worth paying attention to, since their outcomes could really go either way, and could end up swaying the balance of power in the Senate.

Senate toss-up markets to watch:

Competitive House races

The House is looking to be much more of a landslide for the Democrats. Currently, 224 seats are likely to go to a Democrat, compared to 203 for the Republicans. That's why Democrats have an 83% chance to control the House.

Some important states to watch are shown above. As each individual market changes, we update the hub in real time to give you the best picture of what's going on.

Toss-up house markets to watch:

Competitive Governor races

Moving over to the gubernatorial elections, things are much less cut and dried. Democrats are favored to hold 23 seats to the Republicans' 22, but 5 are a complete toss-up. It's looking like we may end up with an even balance between the two parties.

Kalshi American Power Index (KPOW)

Want a single number that captures the overall balance of power? Kalshi's American Power Index (KPOW) does exactly that. It blends current seat distribution with market projections of future electoral outcomes to give you a real-time read on which party has the upper hand. Right now, KPOW sits at +2.20 Republican lean, down from +3.30 a month ago as Democrats have gained ground heading into the fall. Keep an eye on it as we get closer to November.

In summary, it's often hard to get truly unbiased opinions on the political landscape. But prediction markets are inherently unbiased, and provide a window into what the crowd thinks, not what a media outlet wants you to think.
