Trump offers Dana White the job
Mediaite reported that Trump announced on Nov. 7, 2026, that he offered the job to White.
“I have requested that he bring with him assistants, even though some are not from our Country, of Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Kayla Harris [sic],” Trump wrote. “We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left. Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!”
The Athletic reported that White posted a picture on Instagram of himself standing behind a White House podium with the caption “On to the next chapter.” White was ringside at a Zuffa Boxing event in London at the time of the post and was expected to appear at a news conference afterward.
Axios noted that the post “may or may not be a joke.”
Trump and White have a longstanding friendship dating back to 2001, when Trump hosted a UFC event at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City. White also helped organize UFC Freedom 250 on the White House lawn in June 2026.
ESPN chronicled their relationship and White’s support for the Trump administration. White spoke at the 2016 Republican National Convention in support of Trump's first presidential campaign and served as the final speaker at the 2024 convention.
“Ladies and gentlemen, Donald Trump is a fighter, and I know he will fight for this country,” White said at his first convention appearance.
White has also been a frequent guest at the White House, and Trump has attended UFC fights. In 2019, Trump became the first sitting president to attend a UFC event at Madison Square Garden in New York. The crowd gave a mixed reaction to Trump’s entrance.
The White House press secretary position has remained vacant since October 2026, when Katie Zacharia accepted the job only to leave the position less than a week later after giving an awkward press conference.
Trump said he had questioned whether Zacharia was suited for the position and encouraged her to reconsider accepting it.
“I said, ‘Is this for you, Katie? Because honestly, you don’t need it,’” Trump told reporters in October 2026. “I said to her, ‘Honestly, if I were you, I’d reconsider. You think about it, but I would reconsider.’”
