Four more tribal nations are entering the prediction market business, joining a growing number of tribes turning to federally regulated event contracts as a new source of revenue. The Alabama-Quassarte Tribal Town (Oklahoma) is launching PokkeTrades; the Greenville Rancheria (California) is launching Greenville; the Kletsel Economic Development Authority (KEDA), the economic development arm of the federally recognized Kletsel Dehe Wintun Nation (California), is launching Sovereign Edge; and the Alturas Indian Rancheria (California) is launching AIR Markets, Inc. Each is an independent prediction market app powered by Kalshi.

The apps share the same ownership model. In each case, the tribe owns the app and controls the customer-facing part of the business: the brand, the marketing, the application, and the relationship with users. Kalshi operates the exchange layer beneath each platform under federal regulation, providing the matching, clearing, custody, and market surveillance that every trade depends on, much like a payments processor that sits underneath a bank's app without owning the bank.

“More tribes are recognizing that federally regulated prediction markets offer a real path to new, sustainable revenue," said Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour. "Prediction markets and Tribal economic development don't have to be at odds. They can grow together. Each of these tribes owns its platform, its brand, and its relationship with customers, backed by the liquidity of a unified, nationwide exchange. The future of this industry doesn't have to be organized around conflict. It can be organized around opportunity, with Tribal nations participating as owners and helping shape what it becomes."

PokkeTrades

Headquartered in Wetumka, Oklahoma, the Alabama-Quassarte Tribal Town is a federally recognized sovereign nation whose people rebuilt their community following forced removal from their southeastern homelands. Today, the Tribal Town pursues economic development through tribally owned enterprises to support its citizens and future generations. PokkeTrades builds on those efforts, providing a way to diversify revenue through a digital enterprise connected to federally regulated prediction-market infrastructure.

“Geography has kept many tribes from sharing in the prosperity that gaming created,” said Chief Wilson Yargee of the Alabama-Quassarte Tribal Town. “Prediction markets offer an opportunity to reach beyond those limits and build revenue for our people. We will respect every other tribe’s authority on its land, and we expect the same respect for our authority to make this decision.”

“Prediction markets are part of the economic future, and tribes left out of lucrative gaming markets deserve a chance to participate,” said Michael Stopp, citizen of the Cherokee Nation and VP of Economic Development, Alabama-Quassarte Tribal Town. “These markets offer tribes a chance to participate in an emerging industry, especially those whose geography has limited revenue generation. Respect for tribal sovereignty means respecting each nation’s right to evaluate that opportunity and decide what best serves its citizens. Sovereignty cannot mean protecting opportunity for the haves while closing the door on the have-nots.”

Sovereign Edge

For many tribal nations, gaming has been a cornerstone of economic self-sufficiency, but that path has not been available to every tribe. The Kletsel Dehe Wintun Nation does not operate a casino, and Sovereign Edge would give the Nation a way to participate in a fast-growing digital market without the land, infrastructure, and capital a brick-and-mortar casino requires.

"For Tribes like ours, geography has always limited traditional economic development," said Eric Wright, CEO of KEDA. "The digital commodities marketplace gives us an opportunity to build beyond those limits. We're excited to work with Kalshi to develop a new revenue stream that can support our people well into the future."

KEDA sees the partnership as part of a broader effort to develop lasting sources of Tribal revenue. Those resources could help the Nation fund essential services such as healthcare, housing, and education, and pursue solutions to long-standing infrastructure needs, including access to potable water.

"This is an opportunity to take an active role in an emerging industry and build something the Nation can grow over time," Wright said. "Economic self-determination means having the authority to evaluate emerging opportunities and decide for ourselves what serves the long-term interests of our Nation. Our goal is to turn those opportunities into tangible benefits for our Tribal citizens."

Greenville Rancheria

Economic opportunity and economic development are essential to long-term self-determination  and sovereignty. Supporting tribally driven economic development initiatives such as this promotes long-lasting investments in the well-being of the Tribe and Tribal community.

"Tribal nations have too often watched new industries take shape without us at the table," said Greenville Rancheria. "We own the brand, we own the customer relationship, and we decide how the business grows. Partnering with Kalshi gives us a regulated foundation to build on, so we can focus on what matters most: creating real resources for our community."

Alturas AIR Markets

Located in a rural area of Northern California, AIR Markets, Inc. promotes sustainable economic growth, Tribal sovereignty and self-determination. AIR Markets Inc. reflects a commitment to  strategic economic development in a remote region where such a business investment can have a transformative impact on the Tribe, Tribal membership, and the Tribal community.

“Our Tribe has always looked for ways to build an economy that doesn’t depend on any one business,” said AIR Markets, Inc. “This is a new kind of enterprise for us, one that lets us take part in a growing industry on our own terms. Every decision we make today is about the generations that come after us, and this is an investment in their future.”
