We've officially entered the dog days of summer, which explains why news is looking pretty sparse this week.

Both chambers of Congress have begun their August Recess, although the House started a little early, for some reason. Other than baseball and the WNBA, there's not a ton going on in the way of major sports.

But even when the news is slow, Kalshi still offers an insane amount of markets to trade on. I mean, you can literally trade on whether Donald Trump will go to outer space. Doesn't that sound like more fun than wasting time outside with your so-called "friends" and "family"?

With that in mind, here's a look at what Kalshi has to offer this week.

Opinion, not financial advice. These views are the author's, who uses aย pseudonymย and cannot trade.

Young Mantis

Remember when you were a kid, and you had to come up with new and inventive ways to keep yourself busy while on summer break?

Well, the Young Mantis free throw challenge is a lot like that, except it involves a grown man. And that grown man, Young Mantis, isn't on summer break. But he is locked in a gym that he can't exit until he hits 100 free throws in a row... for some reason.

To make matters worse, he has to make the last free throw blindfolded.

8.4.25

As I write this, Mantis is nearing his 67th hour in the gym. And while he has made it to 99 several times, he's been unable to land the blindfolded 100th shot.

How long will it take him? Currently, our traders are predicting over 93 hours.

Last Thursday, preseason professional football began with Los Angeles (C) slaughtering Detroit in Canton, Ohio by a score of 34 to 7. This week, things kick into high gear as the rest of the league begins their season with games on Thursday through Sunday.

But currently, the real drama is off the field, where linebacker Micah Parsons is requesting to be traded from Dallas.

While his demand has generated lots of headlines, most Kalshi traders aren't too optimistic that it will generate results. Our market prices Parsons' odds of staying in Dallas at over 80%.

This is the darkest timeline (Image via Disney's YouTube).

If I'm being honest, you couldn't pay me to watch Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis in an awful sequel of an awful remake. Granted, maybe old degenerates aren't the target audience.

That said, if someone was willing to pay me to accurately predict the film's Rotten Tomatoes score, I'd certainly be open to it. Unfortunately, I can't trade on the platform. But you can!

Think you know what the critics will think of Freakier Friday? Will โ€™90s nostalgia earn it a score in the 90s?
