Good evening traders,
Whether you spent the weekend watching Week 0 College Football, spending time with family and friends, or something entirely different, we hope it was enjoyable.
This week will see a lot of action with the official kickoff of College Football Week 1 on Thursday, the U.S. Jobs Report on Friday, and the US Open continues. By the way, Kalshi is now a proud part new of the US Open.
So without further ado, let us get into it.

College Football Week 1
After nearly 8 months, College Football Week 1 will start on Thursday, and there are some big games planned. While traders have most of the games involving Top 25 teams heavily favored in one direction, like Ball State vs Ohio State, Tennessee State vs Georgia, and Texas State vs Texas, there are a few games that appear to be priced as tossups.

Clemson is taking on LSU and newly hired but experienced coach Lane Kiffin.
Kiffin raised controversy last season by signing with LSU before the playoffs started after leading the Ole Miss rebels through an 11-1 regular season. Adding to that controversy was Kiffin’s outreach to former NFL players and those in NFL training camps to see if they would return to college (obviously so the players could further their education).
Regardless of the controversies and makeup of the LSU roster, the game taking place at Tiger Stadium against a stacked SEC team will be a force for Clemson to reckon with.
Clemson went through a major roster rebuild in the offseason with Chad Morris replacing Garrett Riley as offensive coordinator and four members of their offensive line, two of whom went to the NFL, having to be replaced. Though traders have LSU favored to win, anything could happen.
Another game that traders are predicting to have a less certain outcome is Colorado vs Georgia Tech.

Deion Sanders’ Buffaloes have completely shifted things around following a 5 game losing streak that closed out last season. Still trying to fill the gap left by Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, the Buffs added Danny Scudero who caught 88 passes for nearly 1300 yards with San Jose State last season and DeAndre Moore from Texas. Though the receiver roster has improved, one thing fans are very speculative of is how well this can be capitalized on without a solid offensive line.
Georgia Tech had less shakeup when it came to the roster in the offseason, with a main focus on building out their defense. Noah Carter, Jordan Walker, and Jonas Duclona were all brought in to stop the bleeding when it comes to the run game that saw the team struggle against Pittsburgh and NC State last season. Notably, the Yellow Jackets wide receivers have gotten coaching help from former NFL All-Pro DeAndre Hopkins, who joined the staff this season as assistant wide receivers coach. With those changes in place, we will have to wait and see which team will be 1-0 after Week 1.
The last game we'll be highlighting is between Baylor and Auburn.

The Bears and Tigers will face off at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Saturday. Baylor's defense will face a potentially difficult Auburn offense that completely loaded up in the off season.
Auburn picked up former Baylor phenom Bryson Washington along with USF transfers including experienced QB Byrum Brown. Despite the influx of young ambitious talent, there has been talk that the transfer heavy roster still has some wrinkles to smooth out.
Baylor head coach Dave Aranda was not shy about shaking things up either. Joe Klanderman from Kansas State took over as the defensive coordinator and rebuilt the defensive line after the Bears fared poorly for Big 12 teams for touchdowns and points scored against. The team lost 59 players while only bringing in 29, meaning the team is really building from the bottom up, but some traders are still hopeful.
If there are other games that might pique your interest, we're sure you'll be able to find them on our College Football hub.
US Open
US Open play this weekend saw some wild events, primarily concerning Novak Djokovic. The legendary player made an early exit from the tournament after losing in five sets to Mariano Navone. It was the first time in more than 20 years Djokovic lost in the first round of a Grand Slam, dating back to the 2006 Australian Open, and the first time he had ever lost in the first round at the US Open specifically. The result speaks to how stunning the upset was, but also to how dominant Djokovic has been throughout his career.

The US Open Men's Singles Winner market adjusted very quickly to Djokovic, the number 4 seed in the tournament, getting eliminated with favor towards defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev rising.
Without Sinner playing due to a right knee injury and Carlos Alcaraz returning from a wrist injury after four months, play has opened up quite a bit for other hopeful new-to-be champions to win the tournament, but they still face stiff competition.
On the Women's side of the tournament, Venus Williams and Sofia Kenin played late into the night with Kenin eventually coming out on top. Though definitely a triumph for Kenin, traders still do not have her highly ranked as the US Open Women's Singles Winner.

Current world Number 1 Aryna Sabalenka is favored by traders to win the tournament as she goes for a three-peat. Feeding off the energy that New York City provides her, Sabalenka has fared well in the US Open, having been amongst the final four in every year since 2021 and in the championship every year since 2023. With her form recently being off in the French Open, Madrid Open, and Wimbledon, the question is whether she can get back to her dominance on the blue courts.
While nobody can be certain what will happen at any stage of the tournament, one thing we can be sure of is that it will continue to be exciting and entertaining. Fortunately, there are plenty of Kalshi US Open Men's and Women's markets to trade as you take it all in.
Jobs Report
Swapping the topic from sports, the August 2026 U.S. employment report will be released Friday morning by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. While there are likely very few of you who will be paying specific attention to this release, and only see the numbers in headlines, the results of this report do matter.

We have said it before, but the monthly jobs report serves as an economic indicator that gauges the overall health of the U.S. economy. Those numbers shape policy on interest rates and move financial markets. The monthly report also includes the unemployment in August, which is very important to the Federal Reserve.
As set by Congress, the Federal Reserve has a dual mandate to reach maximum employment and price stability. The Fed achieves this by either lowering interest rates to make borrowing cheaper and thus encourage hiring, or raising interest rates to cool down demand.
Low unemployment means people have steady incomes and therefore spend more money helping businesses grow. This is great for workers but with higher wages come higher costs and therefore inflation. The Fed is tasked with balancing these both, which you can imagine is quite the task. What direction they decide to head in will be influenced by what the numbers say on Friday, so until then we will have to stay tuned.
No matter whether Tennis, College Football, or numbers from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics catches your interest, there are tons of markets to trade this week on Kalshi. We hope it is a good one.
