Jack Lowden
Lowden has received some high-profile support for the role, although one of his former Slow Horses co-stars recently cast doubt on the speculation.
Nick Mohammed told The Telegraph that he does not think Lowden will score the coveted movie role.
“Like I would know, but also I just suspect not,” Mohammed said. “We’ve been talking about it loads, actually. I would love it to be true. I sort of don’t think it is. I’d heard rumors – as everyone heard rumors – that it was going to be a younger Bond, that they wanted someone possibly more in their late 20s rather than in their 30s. So we’ll see.”
Other Slow Horses cast members have been more optimistic about Lowden's chances. Variety reported earlier this month that Gary Oldman said in an interview with a Canadian news show that Lowden has a good chance of becoming the next Bond.
“It’s been rumored that [Lowden] is on the shortlist,” Oldman said. “We’re going to find out pretty soon, aren’t we? Because they have picked him. They have made their choice, but they have not announced it yet. So my fingers are crossed for Jack.”
Oldman later clarified that he did not have inside information about the casting decision and did not know who had been selected. He said he was simply hoping Lowden would get the role.
A previous Kalshi News report noted that British television presenter Richard Osman has also fueled the Lowden speculation, saying on The Rest Is Entertainment podcast that the actor was "definitely being strongly considered" for the role.
Callum Turner
The James Bond market has changed leaders several times, with Turner previously occupying the top spot.
Turner picked up some major endorsements for the Bond role back in June. The Hollywood Reporter reported that actor George Clooney is pulling for Turner's casting in the coveted role.
“I hope Callum ends up being the next Bond,” Clooney said. “I think he would be a great Bond. He’s tall and handsome and charming and British, so he’s the perfect guy to do it.”
Turner, however, told The Hollywood Reporter that he has no inside information about the casting process.
“I know as much as you do – really, I know as much as you do,” Turner said. “I’ll tell you what’s so funny about the Bond thing: Even your best friends ask you, people text you that you haven’t spoken to for 10 years – and you know nothing!” Turner said. “It’s such a weird thing of something happening and nothing happening at all. I genuinely know nothing. I just find it quite amusing.”
Despite Turner's insistence that he knows nothing about the casting process, his market price now sits five points behind Lowden's. Lowden leads at 44% to Turner's 39%, making the two actors the clear leaders on the current market.
