Today, Kalshi is becoming a Preferred Prediction Market Exchange of the NBA. Our partnership will bring official NBA data to Kalshi’s basketball markets and establish direct collaboration with the league on market integrity, consumer protections, and athlete safety.

It’s a partnership built around a shared commitment: giving fans new ways to engage with basketball while protecting the game and the people who participate.

We built Kalshi on the belief that markets should be free, fair, and open. On our exchange, people trade with one another, and prices emerge from competition among buyers and sellers. Every participant can propose a price, and others can compete to offer a better one.

That structure creates healthier incentives. Kalshi earns fees for facilitating trades. We don’t win when you lose, and we don’t limit people simply because they win. Our business depends on building a marketplace people trust and choose to participate in.

Through this partnership, we’ll integrate official NBA data, distributed by Sportradar, into the operation and settlement of authorized NBA markets on Kalshi. That connects our markets directly to the league’s official record, giving participants an authoritative source for determining outcomes.

We’re also strengthening the protections around those markets. Kalshi and the NBA will establish direct channels to share integrity data, report suspicious trading, and cooperate on investigations. The agreement includes restrictions on permissible markets and explicit prohibitions on league and team personnel trading NBA event contracts, reinforcing our rules against insider trading and manipulation.

These commitments build on the safeguards we’ve already put in place:

  • Market surveillance: Our work with IC360 helps detect suspicious activity and identify people prohibited from trading, connecting monitoring with information from sports organizations.

  • Athlete and coach protection: Our partnership with Signify helps identify online abuse and threats and take action against users responsible for such conduct, including permanently closing their accounts.

  • Nationwide self-exclusion: Users can exclude themselves from Kalshi across the country. Our integration with IC360’s SelfExclude program also supports exclusion across participating platforms through a single enrollment.

We believe these protections work best when they operate nationally. A person’s decision to self-exclude should follow them across state lines. Suspicious trading should be examined across the full marketplace. Leagues should have clear, consistent channels for sharing information and addressing threats to their sports.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver recently described the value of that consistency:

“Frankly, from at least the NBA standpoint, we have roughly 40 different jurisdictions regulating us right now. So to have a consistent policy nationally, I think would be in our best interest.”

We agree. A national framework allows leagues, exchanges, and regulators to take a comprehensive view of market integrity and consumer protection, reducing the fragmentation that comes with navigating dozens of separate regulatory systems. Alongside this partnership, the NBA has announced a memorandum of understanding with the CFTC to support cooperation and information sharing around NBA prediction markets.

The nationwide model also matters for the market itself. As a federally regulated financial exchange, Kalshi brings a broad and diverse pool of participants into one marketplace. More people competing to buy and sell can support deeper liquidity and more competitive prices—the foundation of a fair, open exchange.

We’re excited to see the NBA engage directly in shaping this future. Safe, responsible innovation requires leagues, exchanges, and regulators to work together. With this partnership, we’re putting that collaboration into practice: official data, stronger integrity protections, and an open marketplace where fans set the prices.
