With the 98th Annual Academy Awards right around the corner, Kalshi and Rotten Tomatoes have teamed up to provide real-time prediction market data into Rotten Tomatoes editorial and social coverage.

This collaboration offers an additional layer of fan insight to awards season. Kalshi complements Rotten Tomatoes’ existing awards analysis and editorial coverage with the prediction market platform highlighting how movie fans collectively see the race unfolding.

For example, the Oscar markets on Kalshi are incredibly popular with the Best Picture market having already surpassed $14.5M in trading volume, with One Battle After Another currently leading with a 74% chance of winning. As of March 10, all Oscar-related markets on Kalshi have surpassed $48.4M total trading volume.

“Rotten Tomatoes has helped shape the cultural conversation around film and television for decades,” said Will Brackett, Head of Partnerships, Kalshi. “By adding Kalshi’s real-time forecasting, we’re giving fans a dynamic view of how audiences see the awards race evolving in real time.”

Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer and Popcornmeter remain fully independent from any Kalshi prediction data. The Tomatometer continues to be determined exclusively by Rotten Tomatoes approved critics, and the Popcornmeter by audience ratings. Prediction market data will not influence or determine Rotten Tomatoes’ scores, but will enhance the Rotten Tomatoes user experience by showcasing Kalshi’s wisdom-of-the-crowd data alongside the Tomatometer and Popcornmeter scores.

“For more than 25 years, Rotten Tomatoes has been the go-to destination for audiences to find what to watch across film and television,” said Will McIntosh, President, Digital Platforms & Ventures, Versant. "Partnering with Kalshi offers fans a new way to discover their next watch, giving our audiences forward-looking insights that reflect the communal excitement around the upcoming awards race.
