Guardians lead ALCS series market after Game 1 comeback

The Rays took an early 2-0 lead in Game 1, but the Guardians rallied for a 7-3 victory. Cleveland now leads Kalshi's ALCS series-winner market at 58%, compared with Tampa Bay's 43%.

ESPN's Jesse Rogers reported that the Guardians finished Game 1 with 14 hits, including home runs by Chase DeLauter and Patrick Bailey. Cleveland outscored Tampa Bay 7-1 over the final four innings.

The win is even more impressive because “Cleveland was 1-20 all time in road playoff games when trailing by multiple runs from the sixth inning on,” Rogers wrote.

Cleveland's comeback began in the sixth inning when DeLauter hit a solo home run to cut Tampa Bay's lead to 2-1.

“One inning later, catcher Patrick Bailey went deep to tie it before the Guardians pulled away in the eighth inning on Nathaniel Lowe’s two-run single that drove in DeLauter and José Ramírez,” Rogers wrote. “The hits just kept on coming for Cleveland, which added three more runs in the ninth.”

Sports Illustrated's Dominic Pagura highlighted Nathaniel Lowe's performance as a key factor in Cleveland's Game 1 victory.

“His performance today carried the Guardians to victory for a majority of this game, and he’ll be leaned on even more the rest of this series to put pressure on the Rays,” Pagura wrote.

Brewers lead World Series market

Despite Cleveland's Game 1 victory, the Milwaukee Brewers remain atop Kalshi's World Series winner market.

The World Series winner market shows the Brewers leading at 44%, followed by the Los Angeles Dodgers at 21%.

ESPN's Jeff Passan reported that the Brewers came away with a 2-1 victory in Game 1 of the NLCS, thanks in part to Brewers rookie Luis Lara who hit a changeup off of Tarik Skubal to bring Garrett Mitchell home.

Fox Sports' Rowan Kavner wrote that the Brewers followed their Game 1 victory with a 7-4 win over the Dodgers on Monday, taking a 2-0 lead in the NLCS. The Brewers' William Contreras had a three-hit game including one that tied things up, followed by a home run in the fifth. The Brewers' Christian Yelich called Contreras "the fire of our team."

The takeaway:

Kalshi markets now predict:

  • Tampa Bay winning Game 2 of the ALCS: 56%

  • Cleveland winning Game 2 of the ALCS: 44%

  • Guardians winning the ALCS: 58%

  • Tampa Bay winning the ALCS: 43%
