The Devil Wears Prada 2 premieres Friday, and Kalshi markets show its Rotten Tomatoes score landing comfortably in Fresh territory.

Traders are currently forecasting that the film will be at 79.4% when the market closes at 10:00 AM ET on Monday, May 4.

“Fresh” reviews

As of Thursday, The Devil Wears Prada 2 has a 79% ranking among critics on its Rotten Tomatoes page.

Odie Henderson of The Boston Globe gave the movie sequel three out of four stars, praising Streep's performance as "a fierce force of nature, slaying all with an icy stare and a cutting verbal wit. Miranda may be older and wiser, but she hasn't morphed into your Nana."

Monica Castillo of The AV Club wrote that the movie does not capture all the charm and wit of the original, but it is "still a treat for fans of the original."

David Sims of The Atlantic says the film "has plenty of breezy fun probing the dilemmas of modern media, without abandoning the glitz that made the original so enduring."

“Rotten” reviews

The positive reviews outnumber the negative, but some critics pointed out flaws compared to its predecessor.

Randy Myers of The San Jose Mercury News gave the movie two out of four stars, writing that the film's central conflict never fully lands: "The duo's new power dynamic creates tension, but the screenplay pitches out-of-left-field surprises that seem disingenuous."

Amy Nicholson of The Los Angeles Times says The Devil Wears Prada 2 pales in comparison to its predecessor because "the storytelling is wonky, given the film's competing needs to be Miranda-blunt about the modern magazine business while pairing marvelously with a glass of rosé."

Will Streep attend The Met Gala?

Speaking of Streep, the Met Gala will be held this Monday, and traders are also forecasting who will attend the event. The market prices Streep’s odds of attending at 78%.

Streep has never appeared at the gala, but the new film features a scene in which her character attends a similar-but-fictional version of the event, leading some to suspect that life may end up imitating art.

The takeaway:

Kalshi markets now predict:

  • The Devil Wears Prada 2’s Rotten Tomatoes score: 79.4%

  • Streep attending the Met Gala: 78%
