The Los Angeles Dodgers have won two consecutive World Series titles. To complete a “three-peat” they’ll need to overcome a 2-0 deficit against the Milwaukee Brewers in this year’s rematch of the 2025 NLCS.

Last year it was the Dodgers who swept the Brewers in four games, advancing to the World Series where they’d ultimately defeat the Toronto Blue Jays. Now the Brewers have the upper hand, winning both of the first two games at their home ballpark in Milwaukee.

Game 3 will provide a different atmosphere and a change of scenery for the Dodgers though, who will get to embrace a home crowd when they take the field on Wednesday at 8:00pm ET.

As it stands, Kalshi traders make them 62% favorites to take the game and move a step closer to leveling the series.

Brewers overcome deficits, storm to Game 2 victory

The Brewers trailed on multiple occasions during Game 2 in Milwaukee, but stormed to a 7-4 victory when it was all said and done, besting dominant postseason starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto in the process.

Milwaukee catcher William Contreras was the main hero for the Brewers, hitting a game-tying home run in the fifth inning and driving in the go-ahead run on a single later in the game.

After the game, Contreras said the Brewers just need to “keep going.”

Both teams needed to strategically manage their bullpens during the tightly contested contest, but it was the Dodgers who used more arms, eight in total.

The Brewers were able to rely on just five arms, handing the ball to dominant backend relievers Abner Uribe and Aaron Ashby to combine for the final three innings of work.

Both teams had a day off before traveling to Los Angeles, likely leaving all hands on deck in a pivotal Game 3.

Dodgers turn to Blake Snell in Game 3

Blake Snell only made nine starts this season, but the left-hander will be ready for the moment when he steps on the mound in Dodger Stadium on Wednesday. Snell made six appearances for the Dodgers during their World Series run last season, and started one game during the NLDS, pitching 3.2 innings and striking out five against the Braves.

The task will get more difficult against the Brewers though, who ranked 13th in wRC+ against left-handers this season and struck out just 21.2% of the time against southpaws, ranking them in the bottom third of the league.

Regardless, manager Dave Roberts is confident. “It’s certainly a challenge,” said Roberts. “Can we do it? Absolutely. But it’s just: You want to get that first one,” he added.

Last season in the NLCS, Snell threw eight scoreless innings against a similar Brewers squad. Kalshi traders make him and the Dodgers the favorites tonight, priced at 62% at the time of writing.

In an attempt to spoil those odds, the Brewers will turn to their own left-hander, Robert Gasser.

Gasser got a few innings of playoff baseball under his belt last season, but earned his first postseason start during the last round of play, allowing just one run over four innings of work against the Padres.

His reward? Facing a Dodger lineup that ranked 6th in wRC+ against left-handers this season while striking out the fourth least against them.

Superstar Shohei Ohtani has yet to show himself this postseason, going just 2-16 at the plate with no extra-base hits in his last five games. The reigning NL MVP may need to find his best if the Dodgers are going to climb out of a major series hole.

Brewers now the World Series favorite

With a 2-0 lead, it's the Brewers who are now the favorites to win the World Series according to Kalshi traders.

Prior to Game 3 traders make their odds 45%, up more than 20 percentage points since the series began on October 11. In a major series deficit, odds of the Dodgers winning a third straight World Series title have slipped to just 22.7%, their lowest point of the entire season.

In the American League, the Guardians and Rays have split the opening two games of their ALCS matchup. Traders make the Rays the favorite in that matchup (55%) and therefore give them the third best odds to win the title, currently trading around 21% on Wednesday.

Prior to Game 3 on Thursday, the Guardians have the lowest odds of raising the banner, trading at roughly 14%.
