This is Buffalo's preseason opener under new head coach Joe Brady, promoted in January after Sean McDermott's firing. It’s also the first game inside the rebuilt Highmark Stadium.

The Bills led the NFL in rushing yards during the 2025 season, and Carolina's defense was very average in 2025, a gap that shows up even in a preseason set piece with backups mixed in. With most of Buffalo's offensive starters expected to play and Carolina's backfield reshuffling around Hubbard's absence, Kalshi's market leans toward Buffalo.

Carolina's injury list extends beyond Hubbard: outside linebacker Nic Scourton and receiver Chris Brazzell II are both out for the season, while tackle Ikem Ekwonu remains among those working back from injury. Buffalo enters banged up at cornerback, with Maxwell Hairston held out of practice since last week and not expected to play, and two rookies also nursing camp injuries.

The headline personnel note belongs to Buffalo: head coach Joe Brady confirmed Josh Allen and healthy starters will play Saturday, marking Allen's first preseason action in two years after sitting out all three 2025 exhibition games.

Saturday also marks the first game inside the rebuilt Highmark Stadium, replacing the venue that stood next door for more than five decades. Weather is expected to cooperate, with partly cloudy skies and temperatures near 80-82°F forecast for kickoff.
