The US Open kicks off Sunday, and Kalshi traders favor Carlos Alcaraz to take home the men's singles trophy.
Alcaraz leads Kalshi's US Open men's singles winner market at 34%, followed by Alexander Zverev at 21%.
Carlos Alcaraz
Alcaraz will defend his US Open title after recovering from a right wrist injury that sidelined him for much of the season.
The Associated Press reported that Alcaraz missed the French Open and Wimbledon because of a right wrist injury that had sidelined him since April. He sustained the injury after winning his opening match at the Barcelona Open.
Alcaraz announced his return on social media with a simple message: "Here we go," posted alongside an image of himself in front of the US Open logo.
Sinner’s exit
The Athletic reported that Jannik Sinner, who Alcaraz defeated in the final of last year's US Open, will not be competing this year. Sinner confirmed his withdrawal, saying he “had to make the difficult decision that I will not be able to compete at the US Open this year” because of a knee injury.
With world No. 1 Sinner out, Alcaraz is now the highest-ranked player in the men's field.
Alexander Zverev
Traders also give Zverev a strong chance of winning his first US Open title despite his recent loss at the Cincinnati Open.
The Associated Press reported that Tommy Paul “rallied from a set down to beat French Open champion and top seed Alexander Zverev 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 in a match delayed nearly 90 minutes by rain in the second set.”
With Sinner out of the field and Alcaraz returning from injury, some tennis writers see an opening for Zverev. Before Sinner announced his withdrawal, TennisHead's Max Kilham identified Zverev as one of the players who could benefit if the tournament's top contenders stumbled.
“With Sinner struggling physically and Alcaraz lacking match practice, the US Open draw could be blown wide open,” Kilham wrote. “If Sinner and Alcaraz were to suffer early exits in New York, the two favorites would instantly become Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev.”
The women’s US Open
Traders are also trying to predict who will win the US Open Women’s Singles tournament.
Aryna Sabalenka leads Kalshi's women's singles market at 21%, followed by Iga Swiatek at 17%.
