While incumbent Senator Roger Marshall continues to hold a lead in Kalshi's market for the Kansas Senate race, Democratic challenger Adam Hamilton has made substantial gains as the November 3rd midterms approach.
Marshall's chances of victory have fallen from nearly 83% in early September to just 60% in late October, a nearly 23-point decline. Hamilton's odds now stand at 40%, all the way up from 17% on September 4th, reflecting a significant shift in a state that hasn't elected a Democratic US Senator since 1932.

Polls much closer than anticipated
While Marshall's chances of victory continue to decline on Kalshi, traditional polling also indicates a considerably tighter contest. Recent polls from Emerson, NYT/Siena, and Trafalgar, show the candidates separated by just one to two points. Kalshi's current Kansas Senate margin of victory forecast has Marshall edging out Hamilton by an exceedingly narrow 1.3% margin.
Another reputable polling outlet, InsiderAdvantage, conducted an early October survey that showed Hamilton receiving 47.5% support compared with Marshall's 46.7%, a difference well within the survey's 2.83-point margin of error.
While polling support and Kalshi odds measure different things, both indicate that the contest has become substantially more competitive since the summer.
Candidates focus on different issues
With control of the US Senate at stake, both candidates are emphasizing different issues as they make their final appeals to Kansas voters.
Marshall has focused heavily on agriculture, abortion, and legislation concerning gender and women's sports. He's received endorsements from President Trump and former Kansas governors Sam Brownback, Bill Graves, and Mike Hayden.
Hamilton, a former Republican, has centered much of his campaign on what he calls his "Affordability Agenda." His campaign has emphasized reducing costs for groceries, gasoline, energy, and healthcare, while criticizing tariffs and the economic consequences of war.
Hamilton has also sought to position himself as an independent-minded Democrat, arguing that he can work across party lines in Washington.
Kansas race carries national implications
As Republicans attempt to maintain control of the US Senate, Kansas has emerged as one of several closely watched races that could affect the balance of power in Washington. While President Trump carried Kansas by more than 16 points in 2024, recent polling indicates the state's Senate electorate is considerably more divided heading into November as compared to previous election cycles.
The importance of the race is also evident in Kalshi's national Senate control market, where traders currently give Democrats a 64% chance of winning the chamber, compared with 36% for Republicans.
For Marshall, the closing weeks of the campaign come as his Kalshi odds have fallen substantially from their September highs. Hamilton, meanwhile, remains close in traditional polling and has especially surged on Kalshi to narrow the gap.
Takeaway:
While Roger Marshall continues to hold the lead, Adam Hamilton has significantly narrowed the gap since September, more than doubling his odds from 17% to 40%. Recent polls show an intensely close race in a state where Democrats haven't won a US Senate election in nearly a century.
