Last August, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement made global headlines. But nearly six months later, traders are growing more skeptical that the world’s most famous couple will marry this year. In recent days, the odds of a Swift-Kelce wedding before Jan. 1, 2027 have dropped from 88.7% to 72%.
Wedding delay?
Why the sudden shift?
The Daily Mail reports that in the wake of the Kansas City Chiefs’ lackluster season, Kelce is mulling his future in the NFL. A source told the outlet that Swift has been trying to cheer up the Chiefs’ tight end “by spending more time with him and not bombarding him with wedding plans.” The source went on to say that Swift is allowing Kelce to “focus on [the wedding] after he makes his career decision.”
If Kelce decides to play another season with the Chiefs or another team rather than retire, the couple may have to push back the ceremony to accommodate Kelce’s schedule. The Gulf News reports the couple would need to plan an offseason wedding before training begins in July or wait until after the season concludes.
Destination wedding?
The market for the wedding’s location also saw a noticeable decrease over the last 24 hours. Rhode Island remains the top choice among traders at 61%, only two points ahead of New York.
Page Six published a preview of the possible wedding venue. “Multiple sources” told the website the couple will have their wedding at a venue called Ocean House, a AAA Five Diamond Victorian-style hotel and seaside resort in Rhode Island. Traders may be thinking that if the wedding gets postponed because Kelce decides to play another season, they may also have to change the venue.
Who else will be there?
If and when the wedding takes place, the event is sure to attract a long list of notable names and celebrities. Traders price Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ chances of attending at the top of the market at 87%, followed by singer, songwriter and record producer Jack Antonoff at 84%, and Mahomes’ wife Brittany at 83%.
Bridesmaids?
Singer Selena Gomez currently has an 82% chance of attending, and Page Six also reported that the Only Murders in the Building star will be one of Swift’s bridesmaids.
Traders seem to agree, giving the star a 78% chance of being in the wedding party.
