Season 35 of Dancing with the Stars kicked off Sept. 15 with Conner Leavitt becoming the first male contestant eliminated. Now Kalshi traders are forecasting which female contestant will be sent home when the show's second premiere night airs Sept. 16.
TV chef Giada De Laurentiis has led the elimination market for much of its run. Her chances of going home on Kalshi’s Episode 1 & 2 elimination market are priced at 63%, followed by reality TV star Sarah Jane Nader at 22% and actress Tatyana Ali at 21%. Giada De Laurentiis
De Laurentiis sustained a toe injury during rehearsal with her dance partner Alan Bersten. She also told E! News that producers had approached her several times about joining the competition, but she repeatedly declined until this season.
“Funny enough, Dancing With The Stars has come to me maybe 10 times over the years,” De Laurentiis said. “And I was always like, ‘No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.’”
De Laurentiis told Decider on Sept. 14 that her daughter convinced her to join the show.
“You know, my daughter inspired me to do it,” De Laurentiis said. “I think, you know, dropping her off in college and now being an empty nester and really wanting to do something completely out of my comfort zone – she was like, ‘You need to do this. I’m going to go do my thing.’”
Tatyana Ali
Ali's appearance this season reunites her on television with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air co-star Alfonso Ribeiro, who co-hosts Dancing with the Stars with Julianne Hough. Ali is paired with professional dancer Jan Ravnik.
Ali told Entertainment Weekly that she initially had to keep her casting secret from Ribeiro because of a nondisclosure agreement.
“I had to wait to tell Alfonso because of the NDAs and all that,” Ali said. “And then I waited too long, because by the time I spoke to the producers, and they heard that I hadn’t told him, they were like, ‘Don’t say anything!’”
Sarah Jane Nader
The Love Thy Nader star is paired with professional dancer Hailey Bills. She told People that she was “immediately overwhelmed and excited” by the opportunity to compete on Dancing With The Stars. She decided to join the show after watching her sister Brooks Nader compete in season 33.
“Watching her go through the experience was such a cool thing,” Sarah Jane says. “She still to this day [says] it was one of the best experiences of her career.”
Sarah Jane added that she has been hard at work with her dance partner. She is the second contestant to compete as part of a same-sex dance couple on the show.
“I’m so comfortable being around women, and I think that girlhood is such a powerful thing,” Sarah Jane said. “The fact that we’re two strong young women stepping on the dance floor together is just a representation of that and also of my queerness.”
Season 35’s winner
The winner market shifted considerably following the Sept. 15 premiere. Harry Shum Jr. rose from 16% before the premiere to 24% after finishing at the top of the judges' leaderboard with 21 out of 30 points. Paralympic athlete Ezra Frech, who finished one point behind Shum on premiere night, sits second on the winner market at 18%, followed by Jenna Dewan at 13%.
The market volume at the time of this writing is over $963,000.
