Image via @jbanklestankle1Yesterday, what started as a disagreement over the congressional budget ended with the world's richest man implying that the President of the United States was involved with the world's most famous sexual predator.

No, not Diddy (allegedly). Epstein.

How did it come to this? Well, it's all very sophisticated, and well above my pay grade. So I'll ask a robot.

Grok, is it common for two people with obvious personality disorders to have a falling out?

Via Grok.

Well I'll be damned! I did not know that.

Why now?

Shout out to Boaz!

OK, maybe the breakup was inevitable. But why did it happen now?

As I said last week, Trump and the rest of the GOP were happy to make Elon the poster child for government spending cuts. The only problem is our markets suggest the national debt will still reach 46.1 trillion by the end of Trump’s term.

So now, most liberals hate Elon for supporting Trump and cutting things like USAID, while many fiscal conservatives are unhappy that D.O.G.E. failed to deliver on its original projections.

No wonder Elon isn't happy. Not to mention the fact that the budget will kill EV tax credits, and that Trump recently spiked Musk's preferred nominee to head NASA.

In fact, before the recent blowup, Elon's approval rate was already dropping. Fairly or not, it seems the only people who were still relatively happy with him were Silicon Valley types, and MAGAs who enjoy watching Musk amplify wild accusations of sexual impropriety against Dem politicians and liberal celebrities.

Very sane.

But something tells me the MAGAs won't like Elon's latest accusations quite as much:

That's why the odds of Elon's approval rating dropping below 35% are nearly 60%.

What's next?

So what's next for Elon and the Don?

Earlier today, Trump told CNN he's not interested in talking to Elon and wants to move on.

"He's got a problem. The poor guy's got a problem," Trump said, before adding, "I wish him well."

Weird, that phrasing sounds familiar. Where have I heard it before?

'I wish her well.'

Donald Trump has sent his support to Ghislaine Maxwell, saying he wishes her well as she faces charges of recruiting girls for Jeffrey Epstein to sexually abuse.

Oh well. I'm sure it's nothing.

At any rate, despite Trump's disinterest in talking with Elon, our traders price the chances of the two speaking on the phone sometime in June at over 50%.

If the two do speak, whether it be over the phone or face to face, they'll certainly have a lot to talk about, including:
