The biggest night in television has finally arrived. No, they didn’t uncancel the Night Court reboot. I’m talking about the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards (trade all our Emmy markets here).
To be honest, I don’t remember anything from last year’s ceremony, and I literally got paid to watch it. If I had to guess, I’d say a bunch of shows I don’t watch dominated the evening. And since reruns of The Simpsons and that fake taxi series I like weren’t nominated, I’m guessing this year will be more of the same.
But the nice thing is that thanks to Kalshi’s 2025 Emmy Award markets, I don’t need to guess. Our market forecasts provide a pretty good snapshot of what’s going to go down.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at what’s in store during tonight’s festivities. And remember to check out the site later as I desperately try to provide witty commentary about a bunch of actors and actresses I’m too old to recognize.
Drama
This year in the drama department, it’s a battle between Severance, The Pitt, and The White Lotus. The one exception is the Best Actress category, which is heavily favored to go to Kathy Bates for Matlock, because she’s old, and award shows like to give trophies to old people
Comedy
When it comes to comedy, The Studio and Hacks are expected to dominate in all categories, with one exception: Best Supporting actor. Ike Barinholtz from The Studio is still the favorite. But Harrison Ford has a 47% chance of pulling off an upset… because he’s old.
The Studio - 92%
Hacks - 8%
Abbott Elementary - 2%
Miscellaneous
In other news, Stephen Colbert is a heavy favorite to win an award for Best Talk Series, mainly because Trump got him fired, and Hollywood hates Trump.
And for Best Scripted Variety Series, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver is also a heavy favorite, once again, because Hollywood hates Trump.
