In the wake of acclaimed-filmmaker Rob Reiner’s tragic passing, President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social to offer his thoughts on the brutal situation in Brentwood. Reiner, along with his wife, Michele, were found dead at their home from stab wounds late Sunday. Soon after, the Reiners’ 32-year-old son was arrested.
President Trump subsequently posted to his platform on Monday morning, using 718 characters strung together by just four sentences:

As a left-leaning political activist, Reiner had regularly called out the President via various public forums, going as far as to label Trump as “mentally unfit” for the presidency back in 2017.
Will Trump take down his post?
Per Kalshi’s traders, there is currently a 3% probability that the President removes this Truth Social posting prior to Tuesday (Dec. 16). Within that same market, the traders find it over four-times as likely that he’ll delete the Reiner post ahead of December 21 (trading at 13 cents), which is six days away.
Trump’s recent post on Reiner was an odd concoction of condolence and condemnation. Some view the President’s words as incredibly insensitive while being saturated with nonsensical victim shaming. However, as of Monday evening, the post has eclipsed 30,000 likes.
Conversely, the post in question has also received plenty of opposition. Several prominent figures have already denounced the President’s language, such as Patrick Schwarzenegger, Whoopi Goldberg, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Gov. Gavin Newsom and many others.
Who will condemn Trump's post on Rob Reiner this week?
Kalshi now projects a 37% chance for conservative media personality Ben Shapiro to publicly denounce Trump’s post on the Reiners before next Sunday. Behind Shapiro, John Thune and Erika Kirk are trading at 13 cents in this market. House Speaker Mike Johnson is also listed, and is priced at an 11% likelihood for “Yes.”
A life in Hollywood
Reiner was born into show business via entertainers Carl and Estelle Reiner (née Lebost). The Reiners eventually headed west where Robert graduated from Beverly Hills High School before attending the University of California, Los Angeles to study film.
A decorated actor, director and producer, Reiner displayed his talent all throughout the industry. Along with The Princess Bride, he will be forever remembered from works like This Is Spinal Tap, Stand by Me, When Harry Met Sally…, A Few Good Men, The Wolf of Wall Street, and many others.
According to LAPD chief Jim McDonnell, Reiner’s son, Nick, is being held without bail at the Twin Towers facility in downtown Los Angeles on suspicion of double murder. This is an active investigation.
