Four markets are heating up this week, from a surprise surge in the LA Mayor's race to a shifting 2028 presidential landscape. Here's what the crowd is pricing in.
1. LA MAYOR RACE
Karen Bass has retaken the lead following Wednesday's debate, where she was widely seen as the strongest performer. Meanwhile, Spencer Pratt has rocketed into second place after an unexpected wave of social media buzz and mainstream press coverage, making him a real factor to watch in this race.
2. 2028 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION WINNER
Marco Rubio now holds the best odds to win the presidency at 19%, with the market increasingly viewing him as the frontrunner across the entire field. A tight Republican primary and a wide open Democratic primary give Rubio and Vance a structural advantage in odds.
3. HANTAVIRUS OUTBREAK
The market is not pricing in a major disaster here, currently sitting at just 16%. Early fears of an escalating outbreak have not materialized, and public health monitoring has not surfaced the case clusters that would move this market meaningfully higher. The crowd is pricing in a low-probability tail risk for now.
4. REPUBLICANS WIN THE HOUSE IN 2026
Republican odds to hold the House jumped up to 24% after a recent slew of redistricting wins for the GOP, highlighted by the Virginia Supreme Court ruling. The ruling restores district lines more favorable to Republican incumbents, giving the GOP a meaningful structural boost heading into November. Still a long shot, but less so than it was last month.
GOP holds House: 24% (up from 15%)
