After seven grueling months, Indiana is set to take on Oklahoma City in the pro-basketball finals. Tipoff for Game 1 isn't until Thursday, but Kalshi users have already placed $55,461,154 in trades on this year's championship series.

Over the weekend, Indiana closed out the Eastern Conference championship over New York in six games, including a dramatic Game 1 that will go down as one of the greatest comebacks in playoff history. A total of $113,714,710 was traded, which resulted in some big wins...

Eastern Conference Finals

In the West, things weren't quite as dramatic, as Oklahoma City dominated Minnesota, clinching a spot in the finals after just five games. That said, it was still a very exciting series for OKC fans, and for Kalshi users (including the big winners shown below) who traded a combined $78,098,012 on the outcome.

Western Conference Finals

That said, while it's great to see big winners, don't forget that things can always go the other way. Just ask this trader who saw what he thought was easy money and risked $9,626 to win $97 and lost it all when Indiana came back in the final minutes of Game 1.

Yikes.

Remember, there's no such thing as a sure thing, so be cautious about picking up pennies in front of a steamroller. (NOT TRADING ADVICE! PICK UP WHATEVER YOU WANT! OR DON'T!)

🔍 A Closer Look

The Pro-Hockey Finals are here, and it’s Florida facing off against Edmonton, a matchup that’s basically sunscreen versus snow tires. On one side, you’ve got Floridians who think “icing” is something you put on a cake, and on the other, Edmontonians who consider a -20° wind chill “light jacket weather.”

As the puck drops on Wednesday in Game 1, Florida fans are trading in their flip-flops for rally towels, while Edmonton fans are wondering if a certian cup-shaped trophy we aren't allowed to name will finally return to Canada, or if it’ll just end up sunbathing on South Beach. Meanwhile, Kalshi traders are glued to the action, sweating every overtime, empty-netter, and questionable high-sticking call like their portfolios depend on it (because, well, they do).

So grab your sunscreen or your parka—this is the kind of hockey drama that makes for legendary trades and even better group chats.

South Korea heads to the polls this week after President Yoon’s impeachment, and Kalshi traders are on high alert. With the nation divided and trust in government shaken, the Lee Jae-myung vs. Kim Moon-soo showdown is driving plenty of prediction market buzz about who will lead South Korea through this uncertain chapter.

It’s time for the Tony Awards, and Kalshi traders are more jazzed than a Broadway pit orchestra. Will an underdog musical pirouette into the spotlight, or will the favorites snag enough trophies to need a stage extension? Either way, expect more drama than a Shakespeare marathon.

The Kalshi Breakfast at Manifest 2024

This Friday, the third-annual Manifest will kick off in Berkeley, California, and once again, Kalshi is proud to be a sponsor.

A brainchild of the smart and talented founders of Manifold Markets, the festival is like Woodstock for prediction market fans, if Woodstock had more nootropics, more SRIs, and fewer women.Guest speakers include Nate Silver, Michael Lewis, and Kalshi co-founder Luana Lopes Lara. And if this year is anything like the previous gatherings, it's sure to be an extremely fun time with a great group of people... except for that one presenter who wants to measure everyone's skulls. But you can just skip his talk.

If you are lucky enough to be attending, and you see Luana, be sure to tell her how much you love Shannon and Old Terry's newsletter, so she doesn't take away our children's health insurance.
