The big game is finally here, and Seattle has a 69% chance of being crowned this year’s pro football champions.
But for music fans who aren’t interested in the on-field action, the halftime show led by Album-of-the-Year winner Bad Bunny is taking center stage.
Of course, Bad Bunny will not be the only musical act at Levi’s Stadium this Sunday. Notably, Bay Area band Green Day will play the opening ceremonies, Brandi Carlile has “America, the Beautiful,” Charlie Puth is on National Anthem duties, and Coco Jones will put forth “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”
However, the pro football championship is known for bringing out surprise performers during the coveted halftime set. And Bad Bunny will almost certainly bring out other famous collaborators. But who should we expect to see?
Let’s take a look at what traders are pricing on Who will perform at the Big Game.
This is an opinion and not financial advice. The author cannot trade on Kalshi.
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga is currently priced at 76¢. The Mayhem singer is coming off a successful night at the Grammys earlier in the week, winning two awards.
She had only a 31% likelihood to perform as late as Thursday evening. Since then, she has surged to near the top of this market. The recent release of the music video “Victory,” a song between Bad Bunny and Gaga, has likely been a catalyst. Also, the two were seen engaging at the Grammys.
Keep in mind, Gaga has headlined the big game once before. Back in 2017, she took center stage at NRG Stadium, which was the same day New England pulled off the most miraculous comeback in “Big Game” history.
Ricky Martin
Ricky Martin is the current favorite to perform at the big game in Santa Clara, boasting a 77% chance. Martin and Bad Bunny have the 2019 track, “Cántalo” in common. Also, both artists are from Puerto Rico. More recently, Martin tweeted in support of Bad Bunny after the “Tití Me Preguntó” singer won Album of the Year.
Cardi B and the field
Kalshi has 50+ trading options for who will perform at the pro football championship, but outside of Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, and Cardi B, none are trading above 50¢.
New York rapper Cardi B is presently priced at 52%. We can assume she will already be in attendance, as she is dating New England wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Additionally, Cardi B has “I Like It” together with Bad Bunny, which is also listed in Kalshi’s market for the opening song of the halftime performance.
Other big names like J. Balvin and Jennifer Lopez have dropped considerably over the week. Balvin, a captain for the ceremonial celebrity flag football game, is now trading at 30¢ after peaking at 63¢ last month. Lopez showed a 70% probability as recently as January 31, but that number has plummeted to only 17%.
To mention a few other stars, Marc Anthony (40¢), Ozuna (19¢), Travis Scott (42¢) and Carlos Santana (20¢) are all contenders. Santana, a Northern California legend, presents an especially intriguing case, given that the big game is on his home turf.
The takeaway
It can be tough to predict who will perform at the upcoming big game in Silicon Valley, as these things are intentionally kept under wraps. Regardless, Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, and Cardi B are viewed as more-probable-than-not to join in on the musical acts.
To add clarity, Kalshi’s rule summary states, “a qualifying performance requires that the performer, within the official event timeframe, appears on stage or in the official broadcast/stream AND is either a scheduled performer or makes a guest appearance during another artist’s performance. Commercials or advertisements aired during the broadcast are not considered part of the official event and therefore do not meet the Payout Criterion.”
The 60th big game kicks off at Levi’s Stadium at 6:30 p.m. ET.
