With the November 3rd midterms approaching, traders in Kalshi's Blue Tsunami market currently give Democrats a 68% chance of securing at least 235 House seats and 51 Senate seats, a substantial increase from 35% in early July.
The movement comes as Democratic candidates continue to perform strongly in traditional polling, while Kalshi's separate Blue Wave, Blue Trickle, and Mega Tsunami markets have also experienced increases in the final days before the election.

Blue Tsunami odds surge as Election Day approaches
Democrats' chances of achieving a Blue Tsunami have climbed considerably over the past several months, with Kalshi traders becoming increasingly confident in the possibility of substantial gains across both chambers of Congress.
In early July, Kalshi's Blue Tsunami market showed a 35% chance of Democrats securing at least 235 House seats and 51 Senate seats. Those odds continued to fluctuate throughout the summer before climbing above 60% in late October, reflecting growing expectations of significant Democratic gains.
Since then, the chances of a Blue Tsunami have increased further to 68%, almost doubling from their early July level. The sharp rise comes as the final round of polling continues to show an increasingly favorable environment for Democrats.
Final polling strengthens Democrat expectations
One of the most significant developments involves a new series of NYT/Siena polls showing Democratic candidates leading in seven competitive Senate races.
According to the NYT/Siena data, Democratic candidates hold polling advantages in Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Michigan, Texas, Alaska, and Ohio, although several of those leads remain within the margin of error.
Across the seven battleground states, the surveys found Democrats leading by an average of approximately six percentage points, a potentially significant development as both parties compete for control of the Senate.
Political analyst Nate Silver also highlighted the results in his November 2nd analysis, describing the latest polling as indicative of a potential Blue Tsunami. Silver noted that the New York Times generic congressional ballot shows Democrats leading by 11 points, while his election model has become increasingly favorable toward a Democratic Senate majority.
Takeaway:
Democrats' chances of achieving a Blue Tsunami have nearly doubled on Kalshi since early July, climbing from 35% to 68% by Election Day. Meanwhile, the more ambitious Mega-Tsunami market has risen from just 8% in September to 32%.

Recent polling showing Democratic strength across several competitive Senate races has added to expectations of significant congressional gains, although the final composition of both chambers will ultimately depend on voter turnout and Election Day results.
